The Active Living Lab

About the Active Living Lab

My name is Travis Saunders – I am a Professor and director of the Active Living Lab at the University of Prince Edward Island. Our lab uses exercise physiology and epidemiology to examine the health impacts of physical activity and sedentary behaviour across the lifespan. Our work is directly related to public policy, and I have contributed to Canada’s 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children (5-11 years), Youth (12-17 years) and Adults (18+ years), and I led the development of International School-Related Sedentary Behaviour Recommendations for the Sedentary Behaviour Research Network.

My current work focuses on the health impacts of exercise for clinical populations, and policy interventions to reduce sedentary behaviour at home and at school. An updated list of publications from the Active Living Lab can be found here.
